Faith can be a significant part of how we understand ourselves, our experiences and the world around us. For some, it provides a sense of belonging, meaning and hope. At other times, our experiences of life can leave us questioning, struggling or feeling at odds with what we believe.
Perhaps there are things you have found difficult to reconcile with your faith, questions you haven't felt able to voice, or experiences that have left you feeling disconnected. You may simply want to explore your thoughts and feelings with someone who recognises that faith can be an important part of your story.
Christian faith-informed counselling offers an opportunity to explore these experiences together, making room for both your emotional wellbeing and your spiritual life.
Sometimes the things we experience don't sit comfortably alongside what we believe. You might find yourself:
You don't need to be experiencing a crisis of faith to benefit from counselling. Sometimes it is simply helpful to have somewhere to pause, reflect and make sense of things.
My Christian faith is part of the perspective I bring to my work as a counsellor. It shapes values such as compassion, acceptance and the importance of recognising each person as an individual.
I understand, though, that everyone's relationship with faith is different. I won't make assumptions about what you believe, where you are in your faith journey or what role you would like faith to have in our sessions.
My intention is to work alongside you, following what feels important and meaningful to you. Your faith can be part of our conversations where you wish it to be, but there is no expectation or pressure to approach things in a particular way.
Our work together will be shaped by your individual experiences and what you would like to gain from counselling. Depending on what feels relevant, we might explore:
There is no set agenda or expectation of where these conversations should lead. Sometimes understanding comes through exploring things we have carried for a long time; sometimes it comes through allowing ourselves to ask questions we haven't previously felt able to ask.
Counselling isn't about having all the answers or reaching a particular conclusion. It can be an opportunity to understand yourself more deeply, recognise what you need and begin to make sense of experiences that may have felt difficult to hold alone.
If you are considering faith-informed counselling, you are welcome to get in touch. We can have an initial conversation about what you are looking for and whether this way of working feels right for you.
You don't need to know exactly where to begin... we can start with what matters to you.
